Resident-driven Activities

Staying active and involved at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility is an important part of resident health and well-being. We have two full-time Activities Directors, each supported by three full-time Activities Aides.

Our activities programming is as unique as our residents, reflecting their interests and abilities, and promoting mental, physical and spiritual wellness. Our resident council represents resident interests and makes recommendations regarding activities and other community events.

Our schedule of activities includes:

  • Daily socials
  • Trivia and word games
  • Bingo
  • Live entertainment
  • Card games and dominos
  • Discussion groups
  • Gentle movement and creative exercise classes
  • Crafts
  • Music and sing-alongs
  • Movies
  • Manicures
  • Religious services
  • Pet therapy
  • Outings to local restaurants and shopping

We plan outings to Yankee Candle, Magic Wings, the Franklin County Fair, and UMass sporting events, and residents love driving through Forest Park in the winter to see the lights of Bright Nights.

In addition to organized activities programming, we get the local paper every day and a variety of leisure activities supplies, such as puzzles, games, books, and art materials, are available for independent use.

In our certified Alzheimer’s and dementia care unit, we follow a flexible schedule to accommodate personal preferences and routines. In addition to small and large group activities, we provide one-on-one room visits for those who benefit most from soothing, relaxing experiences.
